The first annual SCU Life Run will be held on Saturday, May 18th 8:00 am – 11:30 am on the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) campus in Whittier, California. The SCU Life Run was created to support students at SCU attending the AIDS LifeCycle ride (ALC) as volunteers. SCU sends selected students to treat riders and fellow volunteers (“roadies”) with chiropractic and acupuncture care during the week long bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles in support of research and health service provision for HIV/AIDS.
Money raised supports sending students from SCU to San Francisco and the supplies needed to treat patients for the duration of the week. Any additional funding raised will go to ALC’s fundraising efforts in support of finding a cure and providing healthcare for HIV/AIDS patients in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas.
The event itself will consist of a Walk/Run Event and Health Expo. The Walk/Run event is open to students, staff, and faculty of SCU. The Health Expo will consist of SCU students from our Los Angeles Chiropractic College, College of Eastern Medicine, College of Science and Integrative Health, and School of Professional Studies, providing free Chiropractic and Acupuncture treatments, Ayurvedic assessments, massage, glucose readings, and blood pressure readings.
