If you were to look under the layers of facial tissue, you would see bundles of thin threads. These threaded bundles of muscle are attached to your skeletal frame on one end and integrate themselves into your facial tissue along their entire extent. The support system holds your entire facial structure together and makes you look like “you.”
Research has shown that muscles not exercised against resistance lose their strength, shape and tone. Except during changes in facial expression, the muscles of your face are not exercised at all. Changes in facial expression offer very little resistance to the movement of your facial muscles.
Consequently, over time your facial muscles weaken. A primary result of the loss of facial muscle strength and tone is a sagging appearance.
Look closely at yourself in a mirror and compare your appearance to a photograph taken when you were younger. You will see the difference. Look at your body. If you do not exercise regularly, you know that weak muscles result in sagging. If you do exercise regularly, you have experienced the results that strengthened muscles provide. Now, for the first time, there is a proven product you can use to restore and maintain a younger looking facial appearance by strengthening and toning the muscles of your face, chin, and neck.
Facial-Flex® has been proven effective in clinical studies, with results published in the Journal of the Society of Investigative Dermatology and The Journal of Geriatric Dermatology. Dr. Albert Kligman, an often-quoted research dermatologist at the University of Pennsylvania, has stated that facial “sagging cannot be pharmacologically corrected”. This means that there is no cream or lotion that you can apply to your face that will restore its shape once it starts to sag. Not only that, there is no cream or lotion that will prevent facial sagging.
Dr. Wilma Bergfeld, director of research at The Cleveland Clinic and past chairperson of The American Academy of Dermatology, was asked the following question in an interview published in Vogue magazine: “How can a person stop sagging facial muscles?”
Her reply: “Exercise.”
Because Facial-Flex® works from the inside out, when you use Facial-Flex®, you restore and maintain the original shape and contour of your facial muscles. It is these muscles, combined with your skeletal structure, that largely determine the way you look naturally. The results you achieve will depend upon your age, general health, and the existing condition of your underlying facial musculature.
Facial-Flex® is easy to use and – because resistance exercise is efficient – can produce excellent results in a relatively short time.
Clinical studies indicate that a typical person can more than double facial muscle strength in about eight weeks by exercising with Facial-Flex® for a two-minute period, twice each day. This is less time than it takes to brush and floss your teeth each morning and night. And, not only will your facial muscles get stronger, the firmness and condition of your skin will improve as well. Clinical studies have also shown an average of more than thirty percent increase in facial skin tone/firmness. During exercise, blood circulation in the skin increased by over 10%. Both good skin tone and circulation are critical for healthy, young looking skin.
The Facial-Flex® exerciser can be used to supplement the dental-oral appliances used to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. In these X-rays a side profile view of the head structures and airway/throat (Lateral Cephalometric films) was done using the Facial-Flex® exerciser to stretch and strengthen the anterior neck/hyoid and jaw muscles. This device is helpful in conditioning the base of tongue and supportive soft tissue for obstructive sleep apnea cases. The airway at the base of the tongue is opened further (increased volume) with this exerciser, as the orofacial muscles contract and strengthened with isokinetic movement.
The Facial-Flex® exerciser can be used for patients dealing with TMJ pain or TMD. A wide range of muscles in the head, neck, and jaw are used when using the Facial-Flex® strengthening system. Exercise stimulates improved function and balance from the temporalis/temple region, mouth/ masticatory and swallowing musculature and TMJ, to the throat and cervical/neck structures.
Two minutes, twice a day is the standard frequency of use; with sleep apnea patients it is suggested to do a third repetition before bedtime. The same frequency is suggested with TMD.
