Dr. Brian Hortz has been a part of the athletic training staff at Denison University since 1995. He was the Head Athletic Trainer from 1997-2010 and is currently the Director of Sports Medicine.
In addition to his on-field work with Denison athletes, Hortz also serves as an Associate Professor in the University’s Health, Exercise and Sport Studies major.
In 2008-09, Hortz was named the Ohio Athletic Trainer of the Year which was awarded by the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association. In 2015, Hortz was selected as a National Athletic Trainers Association Athletic Trainer Service Award winner, recognizing his contributions to the athletic training profession as a volunteer at the local and state levels. In addition to his clinical practice, he has also excels in the classroom through authored publications, presentations and in his preparation of future athletic trainers.
