What is National Chiropractic Health Month?
According to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), “National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM) is a nationwide observance held each October. The event helps to raise public awareness of the importance of musculoskeletal health and the benefits of chiropractic care and its natural, whole-person, patient-centered and drug-free approach to health and wellness.“1”
The State of Chiropractic
The theme of this year’s National Chiropractic Health Month is “Active and Adaptive.”1 This theme was chosen as a way for you to help your patients adapt to this “new normal.” Whether it be practicing yoga at home or going on nightly walks to get their bodies moving, now is the time to assist your patients with their overall health and wellness as they adapt to the ever-changing times.
Not only has the current healthcare crisis impacted how you provide care to patients, but it has affected how your patients care for themselves in between visits. They may be avoiding fitness facilities, which means it’s possible they could be experiencing more discomfort due to decreased movement. Staying active and releasing stress through exercise is essential—especially now. Provide the guidance your patients need by recommending ways they can move their bodies each day to stay healthy, strong, and active.
Keep Your Patients Moving
- Go outside for a run, walk, or bike ride.
- Take a virtual yoga class at a local studio.
- Work from home? Walk on a treadmill while on a call.
- Do lunges or push-ups in between episodes of a show.
- Hike in a park or nature reserve
